Don’t know what happened in Flintridge Prep baseball or softball yet, but Prep volleyball advanced today, beating Hillcrest Christian in three sets. They’ll face the winner of Arrowhead Christian/Avalon on Friday, probably at home (and it will be nuts)
I didn’t get the chance to do a write-up on these boys since they’re the only boys’ volleyball team in any playoffs, but they are fantastic. JT Tredwell, Gavin Thompson and Yatta Smith are a great combo of blocking, serving and spiking (and you should see the limbs that flail when Smith goes up for a kill). I honestly believe they’re the best chance of all the area schools at winning a championship, everyone except CV softball.
They’re also properly aligned with in-league rival Chadwick to play each other in the finals, which I think is a very good possibility.
